RAPID CITY, S.D. (Aug. 24, 2022) – Tara Hite, a Registered Nurse at Rapid City Clinic, Flormann Street, Primary Care, has received the prestigious DAISY Award. A national program, the award is presented to nurses who go above and beyond for their patients and community. She was nominated by two different patients.
The first patient wrote, “I was ill and quarantined, and my husband was extremely ill in the hospital. When I needed help to find some special vitamins that I could not find, Tara stepped in to find a source. She stopped after work and went to find where I could find what I needed. She had compassion for my situation while I was so very ill and my husband was extremely ill.” This patient also wrote, “I believe Tara’s support throughout my illness kept me out of the hospital.”
The second patient wrote, “This nurse is a tremendous representation of nurses. After my surgery and recovery, she stands out above the crowd – and it’s a top-notch crowd she represents. For all the nurses I’ve had over the last year, she is still the best!”
The DAISY Award recognizes the outstanding professionalism and compassion that nurses bring to patients and families every day. It was established by the DAISY Foundation in California in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of an autoimmune disease. DAISY is an acronym for “diseases attacking the immune system.” Nurses in Rapid City are selected 12 times a year for this recognition. Nurses are also honored in Custer, Lead-Deadwood, Spearfish and Sturgis. Visit monument.health/daisy to nominate.
