Vein Care

More than 30 million Americans suffer from venous disease, including varicose veins or Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI), where blood pools in the veins. Only 1.9 million Americans seek treatment annually – the vast majority remain undiagnosed and untreated.

The seriousness of CVI, along with the complexities of treatment, increase as the disease progresses. The earlier it is diagnosed and treated, the better your chances of preventing complications.

Our team of highly trained physicians offers several treatment options, including:

Endovenous Ablation of Varicose Veins

  • Cauterizes and closes varicose veins in the legs
  • Alleviates symptoms such as cramping, aching, swelling, skin irritation, inflammation, discoloration, or ulceration
  • Leaves virtually no scars

Phlebectomy (also known as microphlebectomy, ambulatory phlebectomy, or stab avulsion)

  • Removes varicose veins
  • Stitches are very rarely required

Sclerotherapy

  • Used to treat spider veins and varicose veins
  • May be used on its own or in conjunction with Endovenous Ablation or Phlebectomy

Studies have shown that through our treatment methods, you will:

  • Experience relief of symptoms after two days
  • Experience less pain than a laser, an outpatient procedure with local or general anesthesia
  • Make a rapid recovery – on average, patients resume normal activities same day or within a few days

What is Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI)?

Healthy leg veins contain one-way valves that open and close to assist the return of blood back to the heart. CVI develops when the one-way valves stop functioning. This causes blood to pool in the legs, and leads to these signs and symptoms:

  • Varicose veins
  • Leg or ankle swelling
  • Leg heaviness and fatigue
  • Leg pain, aching or cramping
  • Burning or itching of the skin
  • Restless legs
  • Skin changes or rashes

If CVI is left untreated, pressure and swelling increase until the smallest blood vessels in the legs burst. When this happens, the skin takes on a reddish-brown color and is very sensitive to being broken if bumped or scratched.

What are varicose veins and spider veins?

Varicose veins are enlarged veins that can be blue, red or flesh-colored and can appear swollen and raised above the surface of the skin. They can be caused by weak or damaged valves in the veins – the backed-up blood makes the veins bulge. Symptoms include leg cramps, swelling, itching and discomfort.

Spider veins are very similar but can look like tree branches or spider webs with their short, jagged lines. These can be caused by the backup of blood, hormone changes, exposure to the sun and injuries.

Men are almost as likely as woman to develop varicose veins and more severe symptoms of CVI. In fact, 43 percent of men are expected to develop some form of venous disease by the time they reach their 60s.
