When pain or stiffness in your joints, muscles or bones prevents you from engaging in normal activities, you may be suffering from a rheumatic disease. Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, lupus, back pain, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia and tendonitis are just a few of the more than 100 conditions that fall into this category. Many types of rheumatic disease are not easily identified in the early stages, but early treatment can be important. Rheumatologists are specially trained to discover the cause of your swelling and pain and devise a treatment plan.
Treatment options include:
- Medications to treat symptoms of pain or inflammation.
- Self-management strategies such as increasing your exercise, giving up tobacco, drinking less alcohol and controlling stress.
- Setting targets to determine that your disease is under control. We use blood tests, X-rays and range-of-motion tests to track your progress.
- Setting other targets to help assure you are coping physically and mentally with the disease.

I met Dr. Weaver for the 1st time and I thought she was a really nice person and she explains every thing well. The procedure itself was fast. I will be back!
Sheri is very thorough and always gives good explanations. She has worked with me for over 12 years. I chose to stay with Sheri after my doctor departed because of her excellent care and concern for my well being.
I had a very good experience. Dr. Cynthia Weaver listened, checked me over, and addressed my pain. She is working with me to help relieve it. Thank you!
