RAPID CITY, S.D. (Jan. 12, 2021) – Monument Health has extended visiting hours at all of its hospitals. Visitors will be able to see their loved one between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. every day.
The extended hours reflect a slowing of the community spread of COVID-19 in western South Dakota. Also, the extended hours will make it easier for people who work days to visit a loved one in the hospital. Many could only stop in on their lunch hour with the previous visiting hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Visitors will still be screened upon arrival, and the number of visitors is still limited. Visitors to Rapid City Hospital must check in at the new Fifth Street Entrance. Adult patients can have one visitor at a time, and there are exceptions for labor-and-delivery, pediatric patients and end-of-life situations. Also, COVID-19-positive patients can not have in-person visitors.
Visitors are advised to check with the patient’s care team before arriving at the hospital or see the full visitor policy at monument.health/covid-19-south-dakota/visitor-policy-for-covid-19/.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Monument Health has adjusted visitor policies to balance the safety needs of staff and patients with the emotional needs of patients and families.
