Overview

Multi-infarct dementia is a common cause of memory loss in older adults. It's common in people who have had strokes and who are at risk of stroke, such as those with obesity and diabetes.

Symptoms

The condition causes difficulty with reasoning and judgment first. Later, the memory is affected.

Treatments

Controlling conditions that affect heart health can slow disease progression. Alzheimer's drugs might help.
