Syringomyelia is the development of a fluid-filled cyst in the spinal cord. The cyst may slowly grow and damage the spinal cord.

Symptoms

Coughing or straining may trigger symptoms. Symptoms include muscle weakness and wasting, loss of reflexes, and loss of sensitivity to pain and temperature.

Treatments

Treatment includes surgery and follow-up care.
