Preeclampsia can involve high blood pressure that starts after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The condition also can include high levels of protein in urine, which can be a symptom of kidney damage.

Symptoms

Preeclampsia symptoms can include high blood pressure, excess protein in urine, serious headaches, vision changes, shortness of breath, pain in the upper stomach, and upset stomach or vomiting.

Treatment

Preeclampsia treatment includes careful monitoring by healthcare professionals and use of medicines to lower blood pressure and manage complications. Early delivery of the baby is often recommended.
