Overview

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is an infection of the female reproductive organs. It usually occurs when sexually transmitted bacteria spread from the vagina to the womb (uterus), fallopian tubes, or ovaries. The condition is often detected when a woman has trouble getting pregnant or develops pelvic pain.

Treatments

Treatment includes antibiotics.
