DiGeorge syndrome


A disorder caused by a defect in chromosome 22.

Overview

DiGeorge syndrome is a chromosomal disorder that results in poor development of several body systems. Its features vary widely, even among members of the same family.

Symptoms

It can cause heart defects, poor immune system function, a cleft palate, and low levels of calcium in the blood.

Treatments

There's no cure, but treatments can usually correct critical health concerns.
