A narrowing of the large blood vessel (aorta) that leads from the heart.

Overview

Coarctation of the aorta makes the heart work harder. The condition is usually present at birth and occurs with other heart defects. It's often not detected until adulthood.

Symptoms

Symptoms include paleness, difficulty breathing, and high blood pressure.

Treatments

Treatment involves minimally invasive or conventional surgery.
