Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates with the healthcare team, patients/families, payers, physician offices and other community agencies ensuring a team environment. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in all interactions to provide a smooth and efficient department operation allowing for maximum comfort and confidentiality for the customer. Prioritizes workflow and knows when to ask for help.
  • Verifies and obtains benefits levels from insurance carriers and employers when applicable and maintains appropriate and accurate documentation, both written and electronically. Maintains working knowledge of procedures and insurance requirements.
  • Responsible to obtain the necessary knowledge and experience to perform job tasks in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations and guidelines.   • Supports comprehensive coordination of medical services including intake, screening and supporting the implementation of care plans to promote effective utilization of healthcare services.
  • May assist in providing transportation as directed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training and/or in-services and on-going educational groups.
  • Contributes to documentation of coordinated functions in appropriate computer systems and the patient’s electronic medical record.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education – High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies

Preferred:

Certification – Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) – South Dakota Board of Nursing

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Applies up-to-date information related to reimbursement procedures, managed care contracts and patient status in facilitating/collaborating in the plan of care.
  • Coordinates the provider aspect of federal/state organization functions as detailed in the Conditions of Participation and other appropriate regulations.

Job Summary

  • Conducts all necessary review, analysis, and follow up on unresolved account balances from the complete Monument Health system utilizing a vast multitude of varying software packages and their functions, in accordance with established guidelines to ensure a positive patient and family experience.
  • Demonstrates application of follow up processes necessary to ensure prompt, appropriate reimbursement and resolution of unresolved account balances due from responsible parties/patients.
  • Conducts interviews and dialogue with patients, their families, and Monument Health subject matter experts in a professional manner utilizing public relation skills. Provides patient counseling to promote open communication, establish absolute comprehension and concern resolution, and initiate payment arrangements and/or financial assistance on outstanding account balances in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Reviews and identifies accounts which are absent of acceptable payment terms and performs the necessary actions to cycle those accounts to an appropriate agency for escalated collection activities. Runs reports and performs necessary skip tracing activities to locate responsible parties in a cost efficient manner.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively and efficiently utilizing verbal and written skills. Contacts and counsels patient and family support teams by telephone, in direct contact interviews, and by utilizing written correspondence to provide satisfactory resolution of unresolved account balances in accordance within established timeliness standards and public relations guidelines to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Demonstrates application of reimbursement and collection policies according to established guidelines. Displays proficient application of all federal, state, and local regulations relating to the extension of Healthcare services, revenue cycle billing and collections, and all allowable follow up procedures and processes.
  • Displays a working knowledge of third party payer procedures such as eligibility and verification, claims submission, reimbursement, as well as an understanding of collection policies.   • Timely identifies additional or incorrect information causing errors on pending claims through direct communication with insurance companies. Essential Functions:

  • Acts as a resource to interdisciplinary team, patients and families throughout episode of care. Facilitates efficient, appropriate, seamless, coordinated care to help ensure positive patient outcomes.
  • Supports patient and family by providing education, advocacy, addressing psychosocial needs, and identifying and addressing barriers to care.  Navigates patients and family throughout the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up through the episode of care
  • Utilizes evaluative and outcomes data to facilitate the achievement of consistent clinical outcomes by concurrently assessing the quality of care provided based on predetermined indicators within the clinical service program and clinical judgement. Utilizes data and decisions to facilitate closure of healthcare gaps
  • Organizes and completes a plan customized for each patient referred: scheduling, supportive resources and post-treatment resources through episode of care
  • Participates with identified multidisciplinary team to discuss current and future patient cases and collaborative efforts to meet needs identified
  • Assists with the evaluation, selection, and design of patient education materials for specific clinical programs.  Assists with providing education and outreach programs to patients, staff and community members
  • Works with staff, administration and physicians to match resources with patient needs. Demonstrates effective fiscal management through cost containment measures while ensuring high quality, cost effective care is being provided to patients within clinical service program
  • Assists leadership in the development of program goals and objectives.  Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality programs that include best practice patient care outcomes

Additional Requirements

Required:
Education – Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing
Certifications – Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – American Heart Association (AHA) – Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Registered Nurse (RN) – South Dakota Board of Nursing

Essential Functions:

  • Creates customer profiles for all new customers. Verifies and updates customer demographics and insurance information in the system of record.
  • Generates sales orders and purchase requests for medical equipment prescribed to patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of third-party payer information, including Medicare, Medicaid, VA, Tricare/UHC and commercial payers, to ensure compliance with rules and regulations to maintain accurate reimbursement.
  • Analyze insurance claims to ensure all required documentation is obtained and meets regulatory insurance standards.
  • Evaluate outstanding orders and process for proper completion. Follows up with all customers on order status; resolves any requests or issues received from customers.
  • Works with insurance providers to resolve claim issues. Researches and reworks all claim kickbacks, rejections, and denials.
  • Review medical records to ensure orders are consistent with multiple insurance regulations. Request necessary additional required documents from providers prior to processing claims in accordance with primary payer specifics and billing requirements.
  • Coordinates deliveries with technicians and customers. May assist in the preparation and packaging of packages for delivery or mailing.
  • Answer incoming phone calls while maintaining an open line of communication between departments & customers.
  • Assisting walk-in customers with retail sales and supply orders. Knowledge of DME (Durable Medical Equipment) product and providing education/fitting as needed.
  • Manages product inventory and maintains an organized retail area.
  • Performs point of service collections including prepayments, outstanding balances, co-payment and co-insurance; daily reconciliation of cash drawer.  Provides patients with basic account reconciliation.

  • Provide support to the organization, division, and peers as a critical function of all IT professionals. Support includes day-to-day peer level support, emergent after hours support, and any support required to maintain highly reliable IT systems.
  • Document processes and activities appropriately to maintain highly reliable IT systems. Provide required elements to Call Tracking, Project Management, Change Management, and Disaster Recovery Services Guides to achieve this goal.
