Speaker Bios

Kayla Eddington is an occupational therapist and certified lymphedema therapist at Monument Health Orthopedic and Specialty Hospital. She completed an intensive 135-hour certification training through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies in 2019. She also furthered her training by completing the Physiological Oncology Rehabilitation Institute Foundation in Oncology Rehabilitation Course in 2022. In her spare time, you will find Kayla spending time with her husband and two very busy little girls exploring the Black Hills, taste testing the flavor of the week at Armadillos, or curling up to read a good book.

Ashley Grundstad is a physical therapist at Monument Health Orthopedic and Specialty Hospital specializing in cancer rehabilitation. She took her first cancer rehab continuing education course in 2019, and in 2023 completed additional training as a Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Therapist from Physiological Oncology Rehabilitation Institute. When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two young girls.

Ashlea Semmens, MD is a board-certified general surgeon, breast surgical oncologist, and the director of the breast center at Monument Health in Rapid City where she specializes in benign breast disease, acute breast issues, patients with an elevated lifetime risk of breast cancer, and those diagnosed with breast cancer. She completed her medical school training at the University of Washington School of Medicine followed by a 5-year general surgery residency at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa and a subsequent 1-year breast surgical oncology fellowship at West Cancer Center in Memphis, Tennessee. When she is not at work, Dr. Semmens enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, husband, and their two daughters. She also enjoys cooking, baking, reading, and quilting.

Kristin Torgerson is employed as a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Nutritionist, practicing in an outpatient capacity at the Cancer Care Institute. With a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics from University of North Dakota, she holds memberships with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, South Dakota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Oncology Nutrition Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In addition to her professional commitments, Kristin is a proud veteran of the Army National Guard and enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Jamie Clark is a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) and Yoga Instructor with a wealth of experience in her fields. She currently offers her expertise at CCI-Massage and Yoga, as well as EXOS-Yoga.
With 25 years as an LMT, Jamie holds the distinction of being the only South Dakota LMT who is a Preferred Provider of the Society for Oncology Massage, an international organization. She is also a 200-hour and 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance.
Currently, Jamie is completing a 75-hour certification in Yoga for Cancer, further demonstrating her commitment to personal and professional growth. As a Yoga Teacher-Trainer for Kosha Yoga School, Jamie has amassed over 1000 hours of yoga training throughout her 16 years of teaching.
In her personal life, Jamie is a devoted mother of two and a proud grandmother of two. She enjoys spending her free time engaging in outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, camping, and gardening. Jamie also cherishes her role as a dog mom to her beloved 15-year-old Shih Tzu.

Melanie Morrow is a South Dakota state certified social worker at Monument Health Cancer Care Institute. She is also certified by the Board of Oncology Social Work and a member of the Association of Oncology Social Work. She completed her master degree in social work from the University of South Dakota in 2015. Melanie currently provides counseling and resources to Monument Health Cancer Care Institute patients and their caregivers.
