RAPID CITY, S.D. (Sept. 3, 2021) – Monument Health, in its commitment to being a great place to work, has announced that it will raise its minimum starting wage. Beginning immediately, the organization’s minimum hourly starting wage will be $15.50, paid retroactively for all hours worked since Aug. 22, 2021.
This pay increase impacts more than 50 unique job roles, and more than 360 caregivers, who are critical to supporting patient care. Many of these roles provide on-the-job training to develop important skills for individuals joining the health care industry. Raising the minimum wage for these roles will provide better job opportunities within our communities.
“One of our five priorities is to be a preferred employer in our region,” said Trina Allen, Vice President of Human Resources for Monument Health. “Adjusting our minimum wage is one way we’re investing in our caregivers to help them remain in our industry and support future career paths.”
In addition to competitive wages, Monument Health offers its caregivers excellent benefits including health insurance, a retirement plan with employer match, and tuition repayment assistance. As the region’s largest employer, Monument Health provides robust opportunities to grow and advance within the organization. Additionally, as the Delta variant of COVID-19 spreads rapidly across western South Dakota stretching our hospital capacity, we recognize that additional challenges are being placed on our frontline caregivers.
We have identified certain roles within Monument Health that have gone the extra mile and picked up additional shifts to support our communities during this very busy time. This group of caregivers will begin receiving higher earnings through a supplemental pay differential. This COVID-19 differential will be offered for 8 weeks beginning with hours worked on Sept. 5, 2021, with consideration for an extension of this program based on patient volumes.
As a community, we will get through this together. If you see a health care worker, please take a moment to thank them for their dedication to caring for others.
