RAPID CITY, S.D. (May 21, 2020) – Community members sewing masks have contributed more than 10,000 cloth masks to Monument Health. So far approximately 7,700 masks have been handed out locally to Monument Health patients, caregivers and physicians. However, there is still a need for additional cloth masks at Monument Health.
Cloth masks can be reused a limited number of times and are only approved for use in non-clinical locations. Community support in sewing and donating masks continues to be a valuable resource and tool used to help protect our health care workers, patients and families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
If you can sew masks, Monument Health has identified two mask patterns, located on the website. There are specific fabric and design requirements that must be followed. All donations will be screened for appropriate use following CDC and epidemiology guidelines. Items not used will be donated elsewhere.
