Gastroenterology Physician

Monument Health Rapid City Hospital, Inc. seeks a full-time Gastroenterology Physician based in Rapid City, SD. The Gastroenterology Physician specializes in the treatment of diseases and ailments of the digestive system to provide high quality, comprehensive care for patients with a wide variety of gastrointestinal ailments. This position requires a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree or foreign equivalent from an accredited medical school and four years of experience in gastroenterology, which may be obtained in a physician fellowship program. Must have 48 months of experience with each of the following: (1) endoscopic procedures with interventions such as polypectomy, esophageal and intestinal dilation, and hemostasis; and (2) interpreting findings and biopsy results of studies performed to make appropriate recommendations to treat conditions and/or prevent cancer. Must also have experience in performing advanced procedures using endoscopes such as endoscopic biliary examination (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography or ERCP), removal of tumors without surgery, placement of internal drainage tubes (stents) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) to non-surgically remove stones in the bile ducts, evaluate and treat tumors of the GI tract and liver, and provide minimally invasive alternatives to surgery; and performing interventional procedures in patients with history of altered anatomy to treat an underlying pathology or to obtain tissue for disease diagnosis to provide minimally invasive alternatives to surgery. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently. Experience may be obtained in a physician fellowship program. Must have a current, unrestricted South Dakota physician license. Must be Board certified in Internal Medicine. Must be Board certified or Board eligible in Gastroenterology. Must have completed an Advanced Endoscopy fellowship or supervised training.
