CUSTER, S.D. – Monument Health Custer Hospital and Clinics recently presented the DAISY Award to Trish Dueker, Licensed Practical Nurse at the Hill City Clinic. It was Custer’s first-ever DAISY Award.
“Trish is an outstanding recipient who received numerous nomination stories from patients raving about her sensitivity, compassion and ability to go above and beyond her typical nursing duties,” wrote members of the Patient Experience Committee.”She remembers all of her patients and calls them by their first name, so you know she cares. Her laughter puts you at ease,” one patient wrote. “When I was upset and needed information, Trish was there,” another patient wrote. “She’s the most compassionate and caring nurse I ever met.”
The DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses recognizes those who display dedication to the health and wellness of their patients. The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in California in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of an autoimmune disease. DAISY is an acronym for “diseases attacking the immune system.”
The DAISY Award continues to recognize and celebrate the outstanding professionalism and compassion that nurses bring to patients and their families every day.
