CUSTER, S.D. (Aug. 9, 2019) – Kaylee Doyle, a Registered Nurse at Monument Health Custer Hospital, has received the prestigious DAISY Award. Part of a national program, the award is presented twice a year to a Custer nurse who goes above and beyond for patients and community. Kaylee was nominated by the mother of a 1-year-old patient.
The woman said her daughter, suffering from complications related to a respiratory infection, was taken to Custer Hospital’s Emergency Department, then admitted as a patient for five days. “Kaylee was our nurse in the Emergency Department as well as during the entire stay in the hospital, and she was AMAZING!” the mother wrote.
“She was extra graceful and patient with my daughter. She went the extra mile making sure my baby was comfortable. Kaylee made sure that I was comfortable as well. Kaylee was very considerate to our family, and that is why I would like to nominate her. Thank you, Kaylee, for being the good person that you are and for being great at your profession,” the mother added in her nomination.
The DAISY Award recognizes the outstanding professionalism and compassion that nurses bring to patients and families every day. It was established by the DAISY Foundation in California in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of an autoimmune disease. DAISY is an acronym for “diseases attacking the immune system.”
