Rapid City, S.D. (Nov. 1, 2024) – Having a child under long term care in a hospital is heart-rending. It’s as difficult for parents to provide any sense of normalcy as it is for the children to feel it. That’s why Caregivers did not want a trio of little ones to miss out on Trick-or-Treating or Halloween fun. So, this Halloween Pebbles Annya went on a Caregiver-escorted adventure through these Rapid City Hospital locations: Lactation, Administration, the Gear Store, Create Café and the Women’s and Children’s Units, taking away treats, bringing smiles and making memories for their parents and Caregivers alike.
One of our priorities at Monument Health is to provide a caring experience. While it’s not hard to care for and about these kiddos, to give them a chance to have fun and forget the worries of their illness – if even just for an hour or so – is the kind of compassionate example we strive to bring to our patients and the communities we serve every day. It is our goal that these little ones are able to perceive their time in the hospital not just as that of illness and treatment, but one that also boosts their spirits and provides a small amount of happiness, whenever possible.
