RAPID CITY, S.D. (Aug. 2, 2022) – Tiffany Pullins, a Registered Nurse at Rapid City Hospital Obstetrics, has received the prestigious DAISY Award. A national program, the award is presented to nurses who go above and beyond for their patients and community. She was nominated by a patient.

The patient wrote, “After our second child was born, the department staff was phenomenal.
Nurse Tiffany Pullins stood out in my mind for always answering our calls quickly and was always prepared for every visit. Her knowledge helped us feel and stay confident with feedings and she confirmed the new experiences we were having.”

Tiffany went above and beyond to put the patient at ease. The patient continued, “She instantly calmed us when we had a scare, helped us through the incident, and explained why it happened. She would laugh at my dumb jokes and was genuinely happy to see us every time she walked in. The way she handled everything was awe inspiring. She was smooth, quick, and precise. It helped to make everyone feel better. She would relate to us with stories of her own and I hope she never quits. If she isn’t already, I hope she will teach others to be more like her.”

The DAISY Award recognizes the outstanding professionalism and compassion that nurses bring to patients and families every day. It was established by the DAISY Foundation in California in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of an autoimmune disease. DAISY is an acronym for “diseases attacking the immune system.” Nurses in Rapid City are selected 12 times a year for this recognition. Nurses are also honored in Custer, Lead-Deadwood, Spearfish and Sturgis. Visit monument.health/daisy to nominate.
