RAPID CITY, S.D. (July 11, 2022) – Tiffanie Massingale, RN, at Rapid City Hospital Labor and Delivery, has received the prestigious DAISY Award. A national program, the award is presented to nurses who go above and beyond for their patients and community. She was nominated by a patient.

The patient was nervous about their procedure, but Tiffanie helped ease the stress and make the process much easier for the patient. She went above and beyond to make sure the patient and their family were informed and educated about the procedure.

The patient wrote, “Tiffanie was passionate and brought her humor to us throughout the process which was amazing and much appreciated by us. Even though it was the end of her shift, she stayed with me through everything. I am so thankful that she did because I couldn’t imagine having a different nurse to work with. I trusted Tiffanie and she stuck with me to the very end and I couldn’t have asked for a better nurse and a better experience.”

The DAISY Award recognizes the outstanding professionalism and compassion that nurses bring to patients and families every day. It was established by the DAISY Foundation in California in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of an autoimmune disease. DAISY is an acronym for “diseases attacking the immune system.” Nurses in Rapid City are selected 12 times a year for this recognition. Nurses are also honored in Custer, Lead-Deadwood, Spearfish and Sturgis. Visit monument.health/daisy to nominate.
