Family Medicine Residency graduation set for June 28

RAPID CITY, S.D. (June 24, 2019) – Six physicians will graduate from the Rapid City Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program on Friday, June 28, Monument Health announced. This is the 23rd class of physicians to complete the program.

Each year the Family Medicine Residency Program accepts six medical school graduates into a three-year program of training in a variety of family medicine roles with an emphasis on rural health care.

“The goal of this program is to recruit and train medical school graduates to specialize in family medicine, and it has truly been a privilege to be involved in the journey of such talented and passionate physicians,” said Family Medicine Residency Program Director Bobbie Schneller, D.O.

This year’s graduates are Hollan A. Harper, D.O., Ann P. Hibbs, M.D., Taylor M. Kapsch, M.D., Kyle J. Larson, D.O., Joy A. Mueller, M.D., and Alfred H. Swanson, M.D.

Residents who are continuing their training are:

Third-year – Alexandra J. Chase, D.O., Carissa M. Elkins, M.D., Louise B. Halbleib, D.O.  Travis J. Ptacek, M.D., Daniel L. Reynolds, D.O.,  and Joshua D. Told, D.O. Drs. Elkins and Ptacek were chosen by their peers to serve as Chief Residents for the coming year.

Second-year –  Jennifer R. Callahan, M.D., Adam M. Fitzgerald, M.D., Joshua S. Harris, D.O., Tricia M. Jensen, M.D., Jillianne M. Murray, D.O., and Mason R. Tyler, D.O.

In addition, the Rapid City Hospital Family Residency Program announced that six new physicians will begin their clinical duties on July 1. They are Devin Crane, D.O., from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine; Elise Dick, M.D., from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine; Megan Downey, D.O., from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine; Sarah Lewis, D.O., from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine;  Mitchell Schmidt, M.D., from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine; and Stephen Takasaki, D.O. from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine.
