Job Summary

The Mental Health Counselor or Mental Health Therapist coordinates, plans and delivers the best psychotherapeutic approach for each patient. Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Provides individual, marital, family and group therapy within the scope of the inpatient unit
  • Develops and implements an individualized treatment approach. Communicates with family to further the effectiveness of treatment plan.
  • Collaborates with patient/family, multidisciplinary team, and physician to formulate a realistic plan that identifies goals, specific interventions, and resources to meet the patient's needs.
  • Assesses patient’s progress and modifies treatment plan accordingly.
  • Develops and maintains positive partnerships with providers of mental health and social services in the community as appropriate to the needs and requirements of the patient on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintains good communication and collaborative relationships with referring providers and other staff. Recommends additional referrals for patient as needed.
  • Functions as a positive resource, communication coordinator, and role model for departmental staff. Maintains accessibility and visibility within the department.
  • Assists patients to maintain their sense of competence, identity and autonomy.
  • Demonstrates effective collaboration with community/regional services and hospital personnel while maintaining patient and family rights.
  • Assists in discharge plan development, giving direction to discharge planner as needed.
  • Completes discharge planning note/assessment within predetermined guidelines. Upon completion of assessment, recommendations are integrated into the treatment plan 95% of the time.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education – Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field

Preferred:

Certifications – Licensed Professional Counselor License – South Dakota Department of Social Services Certifications OR Certified Social Work Case Manager (CSWCM) – Accredited University or accredited training professionals OR Licensed Family and Therapist

Experience – 3+ years healthcare experience

Physical Requirements:

Job Summary

Licensed by the South Dakota State Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners, the Respiratory Care Practitioner/Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) principal duties are primarily in an home medical equipment (HME) environment. The RRT will assess, treat, and care for patients with acute or chronic cardiopulmonary disorders and associated aspects of other systems. The RRT assumes primary responsibility for ordered respiratory care modalities by initiating and conducting therapeutic and diagnostic procedures within their scope of practice and the assigned department’s scope of service. Respiratory care includes observing, assessing, and monitoring signs, symptoms, reactions, general behavior, and general physical response of individuals to respiratory care.

Job Description

Essential Functions at Monument Home Medical Equipment locations:

  • Oversees respiratory functions of Monument Home Medical Equipment.
  • Oversees respiratory services by caregivers designated locations. Participates in the orientation, mentorship and education of personnel and students. Provides formal and informal teaching/learning opportunities to assist personnel to achieve and maintain competence necessary for safe and effective practice
  • Responsible for RT paperwork and required documents at designated location within the designated time frame as evidenced by documentation and observation.
  • Responsible for in-services on existing and new respiratory equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory of respiratory/HME supplies and equipment.
  • Responsible for overseeing respiratory equipment for customers, maintaining operation of equipment, filling processes, and assuring customer service at designated location.
  • Assist Management with providing suggestions for the respiratory equipment budget.
  • Assist Management with evaluation and recommendation of new types of equipment and services.
  • Responsible for maintaining 100% of all hospital and departmental required and mandatory education, competencies, certifications, and licensure specific to areas they are assigned.
  • Must be available to be scheduled as business needs require, Monday – Friday during business hours and rotate with team members to cover the on-call schedule.
  • Accepts directives, maintains confidentiality, does not discriminate, upholds MH Code of Conduct, Standards of Performance, and ethical standards of the profession. 
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education – Associates in Health Sciences

Certification – Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) – South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – American Heart Association (AHA) – Within 60 days of hire or transfer.

Education – Bachelors in Health Sciences
