Job Summary

The Radiology Technologist will work in Level II trauma hospital setting. Performs and is competent in Radiology under the direction of the Radiologist. The Technologist must be able to independently acquire the proper exam for the Radiologist’s interpretation. The Technologist is able to operate all radiological equipment in the proper setting. The Technologist is required to work with patients in age group specific environments: pediatric, geriatric, febrile, in an critical acute care setting; adjusting technique and positions for optimal examinations.

Additionally, the Technologist will be required to perform fluoroscopy examinations in the department and use the c-arm in operating room setting as well as portable exams throughout the hospital. Technologist will be required to meet the needs of outpatients, inpatients, and emergency department patients. Will work with ambulatory, non-ambulatory, acute, and chronically ill patients. Must be able to cover all areas of imaging as assigned. The Technologist is responsible for exam room presentation, patient transportation, entering exams into the Radiology Information System, scheduling radiology exams, educating patients on exam prep instructions, obtaining correct orders and paperwork for records, billing, and communicating with Medical Staff as requested. Technologist will obtain and maintain the knowledge needed for the PACS. The Technologist may share on call duties. Technologist will be responsible for evenings, weekends and holidays as directed by the department leader. The Technologist reports equipment malfunctions/failures to their immediate Supervisor, Maintenance staff, or Bio-med service as appropriate. The Technologist follows all policies and procedures as set by the Medical Imaging Department, the facility and the organization.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • In a Level II trauma hospital, consistently demonstrates a thorough knowledge of patient positioning, principles of DR, fluoroscopy, quality control, image processing, and demonstrates the ability to plan own work. May assist physicians in performing procedures.
  • Reviews patient’s condition, history, and physicians order; consults Radiologist with questions. Determines proper positioning, and selects correct patient from work list.
  • Prepares the patient and the equipment for the upcoming procedure. Educates the patient and/ or family regarding the procedure to be performed. Provides professional age-specific interaction with patients.
  • As appropriate, prepares and administers correct amount of contrast, using aseptic techniques as outlined in the Infection Control manual. Documents appropriately in patients chart. Completed injector training.
  • Provides learning environment and provides exceptional customer service to all.  Friendly, cheerful and helpful to patients and others. Ability to meet patients and others needs while following office policies and procedures in person and on the telephone.
  • Will work as a team with other imaging departments to coordinate patient care and flow throughout care environment.  
  • Monument Health is a teaching organization; all Technologists will provide a learning environment for students completing their clinical rotation. Technologists will also assist with the continuing technical education of imaging staff, physicians, and radiography students.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to efficiently perform multiple complex tasks including but not limited to outpatient examinations, trauma patients, non-ambulatory acute and chronically ill inpatients, portable exams, scoliosis, and fluoroscopy in the department and c-arms in OR cases when needed.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Higher exposure to bodily fluids, infectious specimens, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common in a level II hospital environment.
  • Understands and uses radiologic safety to minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors and monitored by radiation badges. Proficient with safe handling and moving of patients using ceiling and other lifts.
  • Focuses on patient satisfaction by scheduling appointments promptly and courteously. Obtains accurate information and properly documents on patient scheduling system. 
  • Participates in upkeep of department, i.e, cleanliness of work area, preventive maintenance, stocking of supplies, reports all malfunctioning equipment.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Certification – Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification – American Heart Association (AHA) – Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Radiologic Technologist (RT) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

  • Monitors and evaluates the notification process for patient re-examination.
  • Participates in the quality control program for mammography. Monitors results and notifies appropriate personnel when corrective action is needed. Makes recommendations for improvement.

Essential Functions:

  • Collects and prepares biological specimens for analyses using appropriate techniques and maintains the integrity of the specimen in relation to the test being performed.
  • Determines acceptability of specimens within established guidelines, avoiding hemolysis, QNS, and wrong anticoagulant use.
  • Performs all applicable testing with quality, speed, and accuracy according to established protocols and procedures. Evaluates specimen integrity and ascertains suitability for testing.

  • Evaluates and interprets test results according to individual test specifications, performing necessary calculations; applies laboratory results to disease and/or patient therapy.
  • Ensures initial calibration and standardization of equipment by applying criteria of acceptable functions and performance limits (i.e., precision, reproducibility, accuracy).

Intraoperative Monitoring Technologist will provide neurophysiologic intraoperative monitoring (NIOM) information about the functional integrity of the neural structures in anesthetized patients during surgery. Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Performs all Electrodiagnostic Services protocols, procedures, and assessments that have been ordered by a physician.
  • Performs all facets of electroencephalographic and evoked potential testing in the diagnostic laboratory/patient bedside, in accordance with department policy and procedures. All facets include SSEP and EMG monitoring, Transcranial Magnetic Motor Evoked Potentials, Pedicle Screw Stimulation, and EEG, both routine and carotid monitoring.
  • Performs all neurodiagnostic procedures for diagnostic purposes and maintains records of reports as observed by Director of Diagnostic Services.
  • Performs daily calibration and periodic maintenance of all diagnostic testing equipment, records results on maintenance records per departmental policy and reference manuals. Also is proficient in programming monitoring equipment, ability to troubleshoot and work with machine vendors to run the equipment to its full capacity.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies necessary to the function of the diagnostic laboratory.
  • Properly completes charges for billing. Makes accurate records in department logbook and processes all other department and hospital paperwork. Proficient in generating reports for USMON and PRN physicians. Ensures information is uploaded into systems correctly.
  • Reviews patient records, physician orders, protocols, and data to demonstrate ability for interpretation of subjective and objective information for patient assessment and order validation. Seeks guidance from Director/Supervisor and Medical Director for unresolved issues.
  • Assists other members of the staff maintain skills in performing diagnostic testing.
  • Participates in the orientation, mentorship and education of personnel and students. Provides formal and informal teaching/learning opportunities to assist personnel to achieve and maintain competence necessary for safe and effective practice.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists the Director in preparing the annual budget; identifies supply, personnel, equipment, and facility needs; presents justification in support of requests for additional personnel and equipment.
  • Attends and participates in scheduled Supervisors' Meetings to keep current on intra- and inter-departmental concerns, problems, solutions, etc.
  • Attends departmental and hospital meetings and in-services.
  • Conducts Division meetings, at least on a monthly basis, to keep personnel informed of and involved in Division, Department, and Hospital matters as evidenced by meeting minutes.
  • Coordinates the activities of the Division to accomplish the work in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Counsels Division personnel, as necessary and in a timely manner, for failure to comply with established policies and procedures; completes the disciplinary process with appropriate documentation.
  • Demonstrates a consistent familiarity with, an understanding and acceptance of, and abidance with the Department's and the Hospital's policies and procedures.
  • Assures adequate staffing within departments supervised by analyzing needs of each dept. based on provider needs, employee needs, patient volume and emergency situations; staffing assignments must maintain the quality care standards, yet be cost effective for the organization.
  • Participate in policy development and revision.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, orienting, evaluating, counseling, disciplining and terminating employees within departments of supervision to ensure that departments are delivering excellent healthcare.

Graduate – Radiology Program

Experience – 3 + years of Medical Imaging Technologists Experience
Certification – Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification – American Heart Association (AHA) –
Within 60 days of hire or transfer; American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification – Accredited University or accredited university

Job Summary

Performs imaging examinations for both ambulatory or acute care environments. Performing multi-modality procedures based on ARRT certification level, utilizing a variety of technical aspects that require judgement, ingenuity, and initiative in applying ionizing radiation to obtain diagnostic images. Promotes a cooperative and professional atmosphere with emphasis on patient care. The Technologist is required to work with patients in age group specific environments: pediatric, geriatric, febrile, and acute care; adjusting technique and positions for optimal examinations. The Technologist is responsible for exam room presentation, patient transportation, entering exams into the Radiology Information System, scheduling radiology exams, educating patients on exam prep instructions, obtaining correct orders and paperwork for records, billing, and communicating with Medical Staff as requested. Technologist will obtain and maintain the knowledge needed for the PACS. The Technologist may share on call duties. Depending on the needs of the care environment may be responsible for evenings, weekends and holidays as directed by the department leader. The Technologist reports equipment malfunctions/failures to their immediate Supervisor, Maintenance staff, or Bio-med service as appropriate. ·Ensures the procedure and related supplies are billed correctly.

·Presents high quality images to Radiologists.

·Competently works within required computer programs (i.e. PACs, RIS, Vrad) as well as manual downtime processes

·Prepares and administers correct amount of contrast, using aseptic techniques as outlined in the Infection Control manual. Able to start and maintain IV lines

·Consistently demonstrates a thorough knowledge to operate all radiological equipment in the proper setting, patient positioning, principles of radiation exposure/ safety, quality control, image processing, specialized protocols and demonstrates the ability to plan own work.

·Will work as a team with other imaging departments to coordinate patient care and flow throughout care environment.  

·Monument Health is a teaching organization; all radiology technologists will provide a learning environment for the students completing their clinical rotation.

·Consistently demonstrates the ability to efficiently perform multiple complex tasks and to assist with the continuing technical education of imaging staff, physicians, and radiography students.

·Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.

·Understands and uses radiologic safety to minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors and monitored by radiation badges.

·Focuses on patient satisfaction by scheduling appointments promptly and courteously. Obtains accurate information and properly documents on patient scheduling system. .  Has positive attitude and customer service mind set. Friendly, cheerful and helpful to patients and others. Ability to meet patients and others needs while following office policies and procedures in person and on the telephone.

·Proficient with safe handling and moving of patients using ceiling and other lifts.

·Participates in upkeep of department, i.e, cleanliness of work area, preventive maintenance, stocking of supplies, reports all malfunctioning equipment.

·As appropriate, prepares and administers correct amount of contrast, using aseptic techniques as outlined in the Infection Control manual. Documents appropriately in patients chart. Completed injector training.

·Reviews patient’s condition, history, and physicians order; consults radiologist with any questions. Determines proper positioning, and selects correct patient from work list.

·Routinely prepares the patient and the equipment for the upcoming procedure. Educates the patient and/ or family regarding the procedure to be performed. Provides professional age-specific interaction with patients.

·All other duties as assigned.

As a Sleep Technician, you will work under the direct supervision of a Sleep Technician II (RPSGT, RST, or RRT-SDS) developing competency in and performing sleep testing procedures ordered by a provider. Essential Functions:
  • Develop skills to perform extensive sleep disorders testing for diagnostic purposes and maintain records of reports as observed by the Manager of the Sleep Center.

  • Develop skills in the application of electrodes and sensors, patient education, testing parameters, and report generation.

  • Develop skills to identify, recognize normal/abnormal patterns of sleep and scores the recording using standard criteria.

  • Develop skills to perform daily calibration and periodic maintenance of all diagnostic testing equipment.

  • Monitor patient understanding, effort and tolerance throughout the testing procedure and documents appropriately. Learns to identify artifact and inadequate signals. Adheres to patient safety protocols.

  • Develops skills to apply appropriate treatment interventions per Sleep Center parameters/guidelines.

  • Review patient records, physician orders, protocols, and data to demonstrate ability for interpretation of subjective and objective information for patient assessment and order validation.  Seeks guidance from Sleep Technician II/Manager/Medical Director for unresolved issues.

  • Consistently assess, identify, demonstrate the ability to communicate and address special needs of patients that are appropriate to the patient specific age group (pediatrics 3 years-12 years) (adolescent), (adults), (Geriatrics) when directly or indirectly providing treatment, testing, or patient care and assess their level of understanding.

  • Participates in the evaluation of customer satisfaction as well as adherence to the Guest Relation Standards.

  • Follows all Sleep Center protocols.
