Tayven Aga, RN, receives DAISY Award

RAPID CITY, S.D. (May 15, 2023) – Tayven Aga, a Registered Nurse at Rapid City Hospital, has received the prestigious DAISY Award. A national program, the award is presented to nurses who go above and beyond for their patients and community. He was nominated by a patient family member.

The family member wrote, “My dad was his patient over multiple days and being a paramedic myself and working in a medical facility as a supervisor, I cannot speak enough praise of Tayven’s care but also his professionalism. He was attentive, respectful, and treated our family like we mattered, but most importantly my dad as the patient. He continued to check on him and say, ‘is there anything else I can do for you?’”

The nomination continued, “Tayven told me he was a newer RN and that blew me away. I have worked with nurses with more experience than him, and I think every RN should be more like him. I want him to know just how good he did and how appreciated he is by my family.”

The DAISY Award recognizes the outstanding professionalism and compassion that nurses bring to patients and families every day. It was established by the DAISY Foundation in California in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of an autoimmune disease. DAISY is an acronym for “diseases attacking the immune system.” Nurses in Rapid City are selected 12 times a year for this recognition.
