National Cancer Survivors Day Event

Each year cancer survivors, family members and support persons in the community are invited to a National Cancer Survivors Day Event at the Monument Health Cancer Care Institute.


About the Event

Theme: Strength of the Ribbon

Cancer survivors, individuals currently living with cancer, those in remission, as well as family members and support persons, are invited to the National Cancer Survivors Day Event at the Monument Health Cancer Care Institute. 

9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Monument Health Cancer Care Institute 
 353 Fairmont Boulevard, Rapid City 

Survivors Day is a free community event, and all are welcome to attend. Complimentary food and beverages will be available throughout the event. Community vendors and resource partners will be onsite to share information, support services and education. Attendees who pre‑register will be eligible for door prizes, which will be awarded during the event. Complimentary event T‑shirts will also be available on a first‑come, first‑served basis; sizes and quantities are limited.

This is a free event, but we always welcome donations to help fund future community education events focused on cancer care. Click here to donate.

2026 KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Deacon Rob Hrabe
Survivor, Military Veteran, Deacon at Blessed Sacrament Parish

Deacon Rob Hrabe was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in 2022.  He underwent chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery in 2022 and 2023.  His recovery from the surgery was a year-long journey, but he has been cancer free for 3 years.  Rob is a veteran of the United States Air Force where he was an engineer and B-1 pilot for 22 years.  He is the CEO of VRC Metal Systems in Box Elder and was ordained a Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church in October of 2020.  Rob and his wife, Natalie, have two daughters and 8 grandchildren.

Rob credits his faith, family and friends, along with some excellent health care workers for his recovery.  His story of a life of service, strength and resilience will inspire those facing cancer and those who care for them.
