Urgent Care
Know your treatment options
When illness or injury happens, knowing where to go can save time, reduce costs and ensure you receive the right treatment quickly. Monument Health offers Same-Day Appointments, Urgent Care, OrthoExpress and Emergency Departments to treat different levels of medical need. Use this guide to help determine which care option is right for your symptoms.
URGENT CARE
Visit urgent care when an illness or minor injury needs treatment soon but is not life-threatening.
Urgent Care treats patients of all ages, from pediatric to adult, with symptoms such as fever, respiratory illness, infections, allergic reactions, stomach illness, minor burns or wounds that may require stitches or imaging.
Walk-in availability allows patients to receive care quickly when waiting for a scheduled visit is not practical.
SAME-DAY APPOINTMENTS
Schedule a same-day appointment when you or your family member need prompt care for common illnesses or minor health concerns that are not emergencies.
Same-Day Appointments provide fast access to care for infections, cold and flu symptoms, migraines, nausea, minor skin conditions and other routine medical concerns while supporting ongoing care with your provider.
Existing patients can schedule a Same-Day Appointment through MyChart.
ORTHOEXPRESS
OrthoExpress provides walk-in orthopedic care for bone, joint and muscle injuries that need prompt treatment but are not emergencies. Patients can receive evaluation and treatment for sports injuries, sprains, strains, joint swelling and minor fractures.
On-site X-rays and diagnostic services help patients receive timely treatment and return to activity as safely and quickly as possible, with services available in Rapid City.
EMERGENCY ROOM
Go to the emergency room or call 911 for serious or life-threatening medical conditions.
Emergency Departments treat symptoms such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness, severe head injury, uncontrolled bleeding and stroke symptoms.
Emergency care is available 24 hours a day and is equipped to treat critical medical emergencies when every second matters.
STILL NOT SURE WHERE TO GO?
If you are unsure which level of care is right for your symptoms, Monument Health’s nurse triage team is available to help guide your decision. Registered nurses can assess symptoms, provide care guidance and help determine whether you should schedule a same-day appointment, visit urgent care, seek orthopedic walk-in care or go to the emergency room.
Nurse triage is available to help patients of all ages make informed health care decisions and connect to the right care at the right time.
