RAPID CITY, S.D. (Oct. 10, 2018) – The American Heart Association announced that Monument Health has earned AHA Silver Level Workplace Health Achievement recognition.
“We know that good health is good business, and you have reached an important milestone in building a culture of workplace health,” AHA Chief Executive Officer Nancy Brown, wrote in a letter to Monument Health. “Studies show that worksites (that have) a culture of health with comprehensive, evidence-based policies and programs and senior leadership support are more likely to have engaged employees and a healthier, more productive workforce. “
The AHA Workplace Health Achievement Index allows organizations to measure the effectiveness of their workplace health programs and heart health of their employees.
The key factors contributing to optimal heart health include smoking cessation, maintaining a healthy weight, staying physically active, eating a healthy diet, managing blood pressure, lowering cholesterol and keeping blood sugar at a healthy level. Scientific research shows that improving these seven factors can lead to significant reductions in heart disease, stroke, cancer and many other health problems.
