RAPID CITY, S.D. (July 3, 2018) – Monument Health Rapid City Hospital invites the public to a series of ice cream socials atop the hospital parking garage — a great vantage point to see the construction and hear an update on the hospital expansion. In addition, visitors can sign their names to a steel beam that will become part of the new hospital addition.
The ice cream socials will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 9 to 13. (The entrance to the parking garage is next to the helipad on Fifth Street.) At each session, Monument Health officials will be on hand to talk about the construction and the future use of the new space.
“There’s been a lot of interest in our project, especially now that the steel frame is so visible from Fifth Street,” said Paulette Davidson, Monument Health Chief Operating Officer and President of the Rapid City Hospital and Market. “We decided to invite everybody over for ice cream and conversation about this exciting expansion.”
She said the new hospital is truly a community project, and everyone has a role in Monument Health’s future. By signing the steel beam, community members and Monument Health caregivers can make their personal marks on the future of health care in the Black Hills.
The new Emergency Department is expected to open in late spring 2019, with the remainder of the project to be completed in 2020, including expanded clinic space and a second covered parking garage. Attend one of the informational sessions to learn more.
