The Pharmacy Department focuses on the clinical aspects of patient care and is committed to patient safety. The department is comprised of more than 100 pharmacy personnel, including 35 inpatient pharmacists. The Inpatient Pharmacy is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Decentralized pharmacists are located on the medical, intensive care, emergency, orthopedic/neurology/surgical, oncology, cardiac, dialysis, hospice, pediatric, and neonatology units. They provide an array of pharmaceutical care services including drug dosing and monitoring, identification and resolution of medication therapy issues, participation in multidisciplinary rounds, antimicrobial stewardship, response to medical alerts, drug order review and verification, drug information support, adverse drug reaction monitoring, and IV-to-PO conversions.
Our pharmacy department utilizes the Epic electronic medical record, barcode medication administration, smart pumps and tech-check-tech. The department also provides 24-hour coverage of several off-site locations.
Our department has a culture that strongly supports equity, diversity, and inclusion, and we oppose and will not tolerate unprofessional behaviors that may undermine, intimidate, and harass others.
