SPEARFISH, S.D. (July 30, 2024) – The Monument Health Orthopedics and Sports Medicine team continues to partner with, and support, Spearfish High School Athletics through providing athletic training and strength and conditioning personnel and programming.
In addition to strength and conditioning programming throughout the school year, this summer over 200 student-athletes are participating in the summer SHS Performance Camp under the guidance of Eric Santure, CSCS, Monument Health Performance Coach, emphasizing improving overall athletic performance while decreasing injury prevalence.
“It’s totally changed who we are. We aren’t just a school out west anymore. The girls proved that at state basketball this past year. If you look at where we were before Coach Santure got here, we have a completely different culture. We’ve built from the ground up. We’re ready to compete with anybody,” said Hunter Walters, Spearfish High School junior.
“Providing athletic coverage in our area schools is a great opportunity for our coaches and caregivers to give back and make a difference in our communities,” said Eric. “We are committed to helping these student-athletes not only improve now but learn lessons to grow and succeed going forward in their lives.”
Thomas Worsley, President of Monument Health Spearfish Hospital and the Hills Markets, along with Eric and Justin Feeser, Monument Health Manager of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, Northern Hills presented a $5,000 check to Dalton Wademan, Spearfish High School Activities Director, to continue to improve the strength and conditioning equipment and facilities available to SHS student-athletes.
