Self-care measures include applying a cold compress to the eye area right away after an injury. In a few days or after the swelling has gone down, applying warm compresses may help.

- Vision problems, such as double vision or blurring.
- Severe pain.
- Bruising around both eyes.
- Bleeding in an eye or from the nose.
