Sound of blood flowing through the heart, due to anything from healthy heart exertion during exercise to a diseased heart valve or other abnormality.
When to seek immediate medical care
See a doctor immediately if:
- Any indication of heart disease, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, fingertips or lips have blue tinge, dizziness or fainting, enlarged neck veins, chronic cough, heavy sweating with little exertion
When to make a doctor's appointment
Make an appointment to see a doctor if:
- Heard occasionally, such as with fever or during exertion
