Intense, excessive, and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations. Fast heart rate, rapid breathing, sweating, and feeling tired may occur.

Self-care

Self-care includes regular physical activity, a healthy diet, regular sleep, and relaxation exercises. Support groups may help. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine.

When to seek immediate medical care

See a doctor immediately if:

  • Thinking about suicide
  • Unable to work or complete activities of daily living

Make an appointment to see doctor if:

  • Unable to work or maintain relationships
  • Alcohol or substance abuse
