A myopathy is a disease of the muscles. There are many different types. Examples of types include congenital myopathies and muscular dystrophies.

Most share common features, including lack of muscle tone and weakness. Other symptoms may include muscle cramps, stiffness, and muscle spasms.

Treatment depends on the specific condition.
