Hypospadias

A condition in which the opening that drains urine is on the underside of the penis.

Overview

Hypospadias is present at birth and common. This condition is more common in infants with a family history of hypospadias.

Symptoms

The penis may curve down, and the baby may spray while urinating. The penis may appear hooded because only the top half of the penis is covered by foreskin.

Treatments

Surgery usually restores the appearance of the penis. It's generally done between ages three months and 18 months.
