The most common form of liver cancer.

Overview

Hepatocellular carcinoma most commonly occurs in people with liver disease, particularly in people with chronic hepatitis B and C.

Symptoms

Symptoms often don't appear in the early stages of the cancer. Later, some symptoms include weight loss, upper abdominal pain, and yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes.

Treatments

Treatments may include surgery, liver transplant, and treatments that use heat or cold to hurt the cancer cells. Other options might include radiation therapy and treatment with medicines, such as chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy.
