Overview
Hemorrhoids occur when veins in the anus or lower rectum become swollen and inflamed. This is usually from straining during bowel movements, obesity, or pregnancy.
Symptoms
Common symptoms are itching, discomfort, and bleeding.
Treatments
Over-the-counter medications are usually effective, but sometimes a medical procedure may be needed to get relief.
