Farsighted

A vision condition in which objects far away are seen more clearly than objects close up.

Overview

Farsightedness (hyperopia) is a common vision condition. It's usually present at birth and runs in families.

Symptoms

People with hyperopia must squint to see nearby objects. Reading, writing, computer work, or drawing for long periods of time may cause eye pain and headache.

Treatments

Treatment options include eyeglasses, contact lenses, and surgery such as LASIK.
