Sturgis, S.D. (Feb. 3, 2021) – Kim Ford, a Registered Nurse at Monument Health Sturgis Clinic, has received the prestigious DAISY Award. A national program, the award is presented to nurses who go above and beyond for their patients and community. Kim was nominated by a patient.

Her nomination read, “After a recent diagnosis we called Sturgis Monument Health for assistance. This nurse was so helpful and positive about next steps and how to provide the best care for our clients while we were in a facility. We worked with her via phone and fax to get what we needed. She was supportive and positive the entire time and I couldn’t have asked for a better person to help navigate us through this trying time. She also called to follow up with us a day later and another day after that to see how everyone was doing, this was not something that needed to happen. This has been a trying time for all of us and new way to run a business and we couldn’t have done it without her guidance or help.”

The DAISY Award recognizes the outstanding professionalism and compassion that nurses bring to patients and families every day. It was established by the DAISY Foundation in California in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of an autoimmune disease. DAISY is an acronym for “diseases attacking the immune system.” Nurses in Rapid City are selected 12 times a year for this recognition. Nurses are also honored in Custer, Lead-Deadwood, Spearfish and Sturgis. Visit monument.health/daisy to nominate.
