Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Analyze systems and procedures and recommends changes to improve workflow and efficiency. Maintain and compile statistics for programs associated with the school.
  • Assists with the budget by monitoring supply inventory.
  • Maintain a filing system to follow injuries, progress, referrals, and treatment orders from physicians for all athletes in the school.
  • Provides leadership and support to the athletes and assists where and as needed as directed by supervisor.
  • Demonstrates initiative in individual professional development. Completes all education required by the Monument Health system and for licensure/certification in a timely manner.
  • Actively promotes the profession within Monument Health and to the outside community.
  • Uses appropriate critical thinking and judgment in the provision of care. Performs all aspects of treatment based on accepted national, departmental and evidence-based standards.

Essential Functions:

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Properly prepares the examination and treatment areas per clinic standards.
  • Properly prepares for care of patient by participating in pre-visit planning, preparing exam and treatment areas per clinic standards.
  • Completes patient rooming procedures to include vital signs, data collection and other identified components specific to the clinic setting.
  • Accurately administers and documents medications in accordance with best practice and clinic policy.
  • Performs nursing procedures and treatments within Scope of Responsibilities according to nursing division and clinic specific standards.
  • Demonstrates the ability to accurately perform and document assessments, apply clinical interventions, evaluate outcomes, and implement change to the plan of care in collaboration with RN/provider.
  • Provide/distribute preapproved/preprinted patient education materials. Provide reinforcement of health teaching and discharge instruction provided by RN/provider, directing all patient questions to RN/provider.
  • Completes independent nurse visits as allowed per scope and department policy with appropriate supervision.
  • Assist in management of inbox and complete patient referrals/prior authorizations per policy and scope.
  • Assists and actively participates in onboarding and mentoring of clinical staff per scope and as directed.
  • Positively supports and contributes to departmental development as evidenced by participating in meetings, committees, and continuing education/training.
  • Ensures documentation in the patient record is accurate, clear, concise within outlined Scope of Responsibilities.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Required:
Education – Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing
Certification – Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – South Dakota Board of Nursing

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Oncology Technician is responsible for all aspects of IV compounding, inventory, dispensing and distribution of hazardous and non-hazardous drugs in the oncology pharmacy under pharmacist supervision. Includes maintaining and complying with USP 797 standards for sterile compounding, and USP 800 standards for handling hazardous drugs including proper PPE garbing, proper use of primary and secondary engineering controls, deactivating/decontaminating/cleaning areas where hazardous drugs are handled, handling of hazardous drug waste, testing, and training of new technicians on proper compounding procedure. Regularly working in the environment of hazardous drugs and sterile compounding is required.

Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Must perform most essential functions of the IV Pharmacy Technician and perform duties related to the ordering, receiving, storing, preparing, compounding, dispensing and distribution of sterile, hazardous, and non-hazardous drugs. 
  • Maintain and monitor proper documentation of compounding, cleaning (including deactivation and decontamination of hazardous drugs), testing, and certification of equipment and compounding areas.
  • Responsible for ensuring competency of all aspects of staff (both technicians and pharmacists) performing sterile compounding and handling hazardous drugs, including but not limited to garbing, proper compounding procedure, cleaning, testing, and training. Works collaboratively with pharmacists to ensure compliance of USP 797 and USP 800 standards.
  • Oversee inventory management of highly expensive chemotherapy and biotherapy drugs, which includes monitoring usage, managing drug shortages, working with limited distribution network purchasing requirements, monitoring expirations, and reducing waste.
  • Utilizing and maintaining software systems and acts as a resource for upgrades and changes. Monitoring of equipment, room pressure, temperature and humidity in compounding and drug storage rooms, engineering controls, environmental monitoring, and quality of sterile preparations to evaluate compliance with USP 797 and USP 800 standards.
  • Trained on hazardous drug exposure and spill control, including treatment of individuals accidently exposed to hazardous drugs.
  • Support all aspects of investigational drug management, including inventory, information and recordkeeping, and preparation for dispensing.
  • Participates in quality improvement projects for error prevention strategies.
  • Acts as a mentor to enforce proper procedures.

Training and Education:

  • Facilitate training for all new and existing Monument Health Revenue Cycle staff as requested and assigned.

  • Deliver and conduct engaging and effective training sessions and educational offerings to diverse audiences utilizing appropriate learning strategies.  Incorporate the principles of Adult Learning in training classes.  Assess training needs before, during and after each class.  Prepare the learning environment/classroom including set up, tear down, and other logistics.  Perform attendance and complete required documentation related to class session.  Make necessary adjustments to training delivery based on leadership, student and training team feedback.

  • Teach and mentor additional caregivers who will assist with ongoing training for end users. This will include monitoring the trainer’s adherence to course curriculum, knowledge of applicable workflows, and overall Epic and other software system knowledge.

Instructional System Design:

  • Assist with the planning, development, implementation and revision of curriculum in keeping with changes in organization’s professional and leadership development needs and in keeping with industry best practices.

  • Develop and design self-paced web-based learning, synchronous web-based learning, and classroom learning and materials for revenue cycle training and education programs as well as ongoing professional development opportunities such as internal certification, career ladders, etc.

  • Develop, test, and maintain course curriculum along with all training materials for the respective type of medium application.  Develop learning objectives and goals for each new curriculum and review learning objectives for existing curriculum.  Prepare instructional material for printing and develop outlines with necessary details to direct instruction. Publish, edit, and revise content as necessary.

  • Ensure all classroom training and related training materials adhere to current Monument Health policies and procedures.

Quality Assurance and Improvement:

  • Monitor current systems to ensure the Revenue Cycle caregivers are utilizing systems to their maximum potential.

  • Randomly audit Revenue Cycle caregivers to ensure individual is utilizing systems and follow-up procedures accurately.

Essential Functions:

  • Accurately receives and processes requests for patient information according to time frames as outlined in the Departmental goals. Accomplishes evaluation of requests for many categories of requests, including those for treatment, payment, and Healthcare operations, as well as those specific requestors such as commercial insurances, workmen’s compensation insurances, social services, disability, Medicare, Champus, courts, attorneys, and law enforcement. Processes the requests in a timely manner.
  • Exercises independent judgment with regard to maintaining the confidentiality of personal health information in accordance with the HIPAA Privacy Standards and the policies of Rapid City Hospital. Consults Supervisor, Director, Privacy Officer or Staff Counsel as necessary.
  • Enters requests for information into the medical records ROI module on a daily basis to allow an audit trail of requests received and actions taken. Assigns a tracking number to the request.
  • Assists Hospital workforce and Departments with questions and concerns regarding the release of personal health information for continuing care treatment, insurance payment, and Healthcare operations. Reviews policy guidelines and consults the Supervisor, Director, Privacy Officer or Staff Counsel as necessary.
  • Communicates closely with the Coordinator, Director, and Corporate Legal Counsel on any requests which are in question.
  • Updates the request in the Release of Information log-module, listing specific actions take, dates, actions needed, and the status of completion of the request.
  • Files, retrieves, and tracks charts in an accurate and complete manner.
  • Assists with the backup of clerical and office tasks upon request.
