Hot Springs, S.D. (Sept. 27, 2024) – In order to prepare for the annual flu season, Monument Health Hot Springs Clinic on state Highway 71 will hold three flu vaccine clinics.
Clinic times are on Friday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Those interested can schedule an appointment by calling 605-745-8050.
If your insurance doesn’t cover the cost of an annual influenza vaccine, Monument Health offers $50 flu shots, this does not include the high-dose vaccine. If you are unable to make the dates of the flu vaccine clinics, all of the Monument Health Primary Care clinics throughout the Black Hills administer the flu vaccine.
Yearly influenza vaccinations are the best way to reduce the risk of catching seasonal flu or developing potentially serious complications from catching it. After receiving the vaccine, people typically need two weeks to develop a protective response to the influenza virus. Monument Health recommends getting the annual vaccine around late September to early October, ahead of the typical flu season from December through March, but getting an annual flu vaccine is beneficial any time of year. Speak with your primary care provider if receiving the flu vaccine with the COVID-19 booster is right for you.
