RAPID CITY, S.D. (May 5, 2020) – Although COVID-19 restrictions have put strict limits on visitors, Monument Health hospital patients can now receive greeting cards from friends and loved ones to brighten their hospital stay.
“Our caregivers are sometimes the only visitors that patients have,” Pete McQuinston, senior director of food and nutrition for Monument Health said. “We started talking about how we could brighten someone’s hospital stay, and we thought it would be great if we could deliver notes from loved ones.”
Notes for greeting cards can be submitted through a form on Monument Health’s website here, there are two designs to chose from. The cards are then printed in the hospital and delivered with the patients’ meals.
Patients at all five Monument Health Hospitals, as well as the Orthopedic & Specialty Hospital, can receive cards. The patient’s name and room number must be included on the submission. The form can be found under the Patient and Visitor tab on the Monument Health homepage. Cards must be submitted before 9 a.m. to be delivered that day.
