Rapid City Hospital accepts residents for Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) and Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Pharmacy Residency Programs. PGY2 programs are in critical care and oncology. At the largest hospital in western South Dakota, our residents see a variety of patients and work with medical professionals across the entire spectrum of health care who are experts in their field. Rotations are diverse and meaningful.
As many as one third of our admitted patients represent non-caucasian cultures, and Monument Health has been honored by the American Hospital Association for our efforts to reduce health care disparities based on differences such as race, ethnicity, language, and socio-economic condition.
Residents are full-time and benefit-eligible. Residents will conduct and present research as well as have an opportunity to receive a teaching certificate and a leadership certificate. Our preceptors are experts in hospital pharmacy and numerous subspecialties. They are also active in research, leadership, community service, and pharmacy organizations including SDSHP, ASHP, and ACCP. Preceptors tailor the program to meet residents’ individual goals.
Our residents love working in the Black Hills, a mecca for outdoor recreation and beautiful scenery with many opportunities to experience nature and be active. See below for more information on our programs or how to apply.
