Nursing Support caregivers help nurses provide safe, effective care. These caregivers are crucial to our ability to deliver high-quality care and provide a caring experience to patients and families. Nursing Support includes positions such as Nurse Aide, Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Champion, Medical Assistant, and more. Nursing Support caregivers work in all of our markets, at clinics, hospitals, specialty centers, long term care facilities, and more.

Orientation
Caregivers who support nurses and patients in direct patient care attend Nursing Support Orientation on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of their first week upon hire. Nurse aides, CNAs, clinical assistants, medical assistants, and technicians attends this interactive, hands-on training which prepares them to provide safe, quality care and serves as an introduction to patient care at Monument Health.
Positions High in Demand
Nurse Aide
Nurse aides help patients of all ages perform their daily tasks, like personal hygiene, eating, repositioning, taking vital signs and much more. They work under a licensed nurse’s supervision. They have extensive daily contact with each patient, playing a key role in their care and keeping nurses up to date on vital information about patients’ conditions.
Emergency Department Technicians
Emergency Department Technicians assist nursing staff in providing excellent, effective and safe patient care appropriate to the diagnosis of the patient. They are responsible for general medical duties, like assessing patient’s needs, monitoring their health, gathering medical aid particulars and compiling patient records.
Dialysis Technicians
Dialysis Technicians assist the nursing staff in providing efficient, effective and safe hemodialysis treatments to patients who have permanent kidney failure, also known as hemodialysis. Kidney dialysis removes metabolic waste from the blood. This is typically the job of the kidneys, but when the kidneys do not work, kidney dialysis is a necessary treatment for a patient. During dialysis, the technician monitors the dialysis machines and patient’s vital signs.

Sunshine
The Sunshine Awards are an opportunity to reward and celebrate the extraordinary skills and compassionate care given by our nursing support roles every day; including Nurse Aide, Certified Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, ED Tech, Dialysis Tech, etc. Nominations are accepted for these outstanding caregivers and then the Nursing Support Council anonymously reviews and selects a minimum of five nursing support caregivers per market for their contributions to excellent care.

The TULIP Award recognizes and celebrates individuals in nursing support who exemplify Monument Health’s values of trust, respect, compassion, community and excellence.
