Job Summary

** Up to $20,000 Sign On Available for Qualified Candidates **

Performs imaging examinations for both ambulatory or acute care environments. Performing multi-modality procedures based on ARRT certification level, utilizing a variety of technical aspects that require judgement, ingenuity, and initiative in applying ionizing radiation to obtain diagnostic images. Promotes a cooperative and professional atmosphere with emphasis on patient care. The Technologist is required to work with patients in age group specific environments: pediatric, geriatric, febrile, and acute care; adjusting technique and positions for optimal examinations. The Technologist is responsible for exam room presentation, patient transportation, entering exams into the Radiology Information System, scheduling radiology exams, educating patients on exam prep instructions, obtaining correct orders and paperwork for records, billing, and communicating with Medical Staff as requested. Technologist will obtain and maintain the knowledge needed for the PACS. The Technologist may share on call duties. Depending on the needs of the care environment may be responsible for evenings, weekends and holidays as directed by the department leader. The Technologist reports equipment malfunctions/failures to their immediate Supervisor, Maintenance staff, or Bio-med service as appropriate. The Technologist follows all policies and procedures as set by the Medical Imaging Department, the facility and the organization

Job Description

Essential Functions:

·Documents appropriate information in patients’ charts.

·Ensures the procedure and related supplies are billed correctly.

·Presents high quality images to Radiologists.

·Competently works within required computer programs (i.e. PACs, RIS, Vrad) as well as manual downtime processes

·Prepares and administers correct amount of contrast, using aseptic techniques as outlined in the Infection Control manual. Able to start and maintain IV lines

·Consistently demonstrates a thorough knowledge to operate all radiological equipment in the proper setting, patient positioning, principles of radiation exposure/ safety, quality control, image processing, specialized protocols and demonstrates the ability to plan own work.

·Will work as a team with other imaging departments to coordinate patient care and flow throughout care environment.  

·Monument Health is a teaching organization; all radiology technologists will provide a learning environment for the students completing their clinical rotation.

·Consistently demonstrates the ability to efficiently perform multiple complex tasks and to assist with the continuing technical education of imaging staff, physicians, and radiography students.

·Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.

·Understands and uses radiologic safety to minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors and monitored by radiation badges.

·Focuses on patient satisfaction by scheduling appointments promptly and courteously. Obtains accurate information and properly documents on patient scheduling system. .  Has positive attitude and customer service mind set. Friendly, cheerful and helpful to patients and others. Ability to meet patients and others needs while following office policies and procedures in person and on the telephone.

·Proficient with safe handling and moving of patients using ceiling and other lifts.

·Participates in upkeep of department, i.e, cleanliness of work area, preventive maintenance, stocking of supplies, reports all malfunctioning equipment.

·As appropriate, prepares and administers correct amount of contrast, using aseptic techniques as outlined in the Infection Control manual. Documents appropriately in patients chart. Completed injector training.

·Reviews patient’s condition, history, and physicians order; consults radiologist with any questions. Determines proper positioning, and selects correct patient from work list.

·Routinely prepares the patient and the equipment for the upcoming procedure. Educates the patient and/ or family regarding the procedure to be performed. Provides professional age-specific interaction with patients.

·All other duties as assigned.

Required:

Education – High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General Studies

Graduate –  Accredited Radiography Technologist Program

ASRT Certificate – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification – American Heart Association (AHA) – Within 60 days of hire or transfer.

  • Accountable for accurately collecting demographics, confirming patient identity, guarantor assignment, and coverage information and verification from patients or informants including obtaining necessary documents for check-in or admission among various patient settings, utilizing various communication methods (i.e phone, letters, face-to-face, bedside). 
  • Assists in achieving the strategic objectives of Monument Health by following Revenue Cycle guidelines. Including participating in quality assurance and improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of payer information and benefits, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers as well as third party liability payers.
  • Performs point of service collections including prepayments, outstanding balances, co-payment and co-insurance; daily reconciliation of cash drawer.  Provides patients with basic account reconciliation.
  • Initiates financial clearance by providing patient with cost estimates for scheduled services. Properly escalates financial clearance needs on behalf of the patient.
  • Review and understand authorization and referral records to confirm financial clearance.
  • Educates patient and maintains regulatory compliance as required by distributing and/or obtaining required forms and signatures including consents for treatment and financial agreements, ABN/waivers, and other regulatory forms.
  • Performs business office duties including incoming phone calls and messages, in-basket messaging, patient communications, intra-departmental communications, scanning/faxes, taxi vouchers, mail distribution, lost and found, safe and valuables and other duties as assigned.
  • Provides service excellence including way-finding, reception. Demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to both emotional and physical needs. Essential Functions:

Record Analysis

  • Responsible for the oversight of active medical records requiring completion.  Evaluates the completion of the record utilizing medical records practice standards for clinics, critical access hospitals, acute care hospitals, and long term care facilities. Coordinates completion of records when an issue requires resolution.
  • Document imaging and scanning – – Identifies documents which constitute the legal content of the patient record, in both electronic and paper formats.  Assigns appropriate document names.  Scans paper health records (internal and external sources) to the target location of the medical record.  Evaluates incoming fax communications.  Carefully identifies the type of request, the appropriate path for routing to the physician, nurse, or referral team.  Uploads the document.
  • Record maintenance – Enters specific laboratory or health care data into the electronic health record. Completes electronic record corrections or scanned record corrections accurately according to established guidelines.
  • Release of records – Ensures documentation of requests for information within 3 business days of receipt of the request.  Documents completion of all requests for information per Corporate Responsibility and HIPAA guidelines. Receives and validates telephone, verbal, and written requests for information from health care providers, authorized third parties, patients, or their authorized representatives. Follows the patient’s request for records including the form desired by the patient (electronic, Epic Care Link, paper, or other media) and completes this request within 30 days. Keeps patient informed of a delay.  The final patient request is completed within the timeframe required by regulation.
  • Record Retention – Understands and accurately administers the Record Retention schedule.  Accurately identifies records which have met the retention schedule.  Assists with the tasks to store, retain, and purge patient records.
  • Medical record transcription.
  • Processing birth certificates.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Properly prepares the examination and treatment areas per clinic standards.
  • Completes patient rooming procedures to include vital signs, data collection and other identified components specific to the clinic setting and within outlined Scope of Responsibilities.
  • Accurately administers and documents unit dose medications/ immunizations in accordance with clinic policy following successful training/competency.
  • Performs EKG's and laboratory testing per CLIA license of the clinic following successful training/competency.
