Athletic Training
Monument Health’s athletic trainers are highly qualified professionals collaborating with physicians to provide comprehensive care. They offer preventive services, emergency care, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for various injuries and medical conditions, from minor sprains to severe head injuries.
Our trainers emphasize injury prevention through hands-on care and education. With expertise in injury diagnosis and treatment, they also provide guidance on nutrition and hydration, emergency care and therapeutic interventions to restore strength and balance.
Sports Medicine practitioners and certified athletic trainers currently partner with area high schools and athletic organizations in South Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming. In addition, we provide orthopedic medical coverage, athletic training and strength and conditioning programs to NCAA D2 Black Hills State University, Chadron State College and South Dakota Mines. We are also the orthopedic and sports medicine provider overseeing The Monument event center in Rapid City.
The athletic trainer team is made up of certified athletic trainers in the high school/organization level programs and within area universities. Our performance team consists of strength and conditioning coaches serving the high school, collegiate and professional levels.
Our medical team consists of physician providers in the fields of Orthopedic Surgery and Primary Care Sports Medicine.
PERFORMANCE TRAINING
Monument Health’s Performance Coaches establish and maintain performance programs for all sports, focusing on improving athletic performance, reducing injuries and teaching lifelong fitness skills.
They develop training plans based on scientific principles, supervise sessions, evaluate athletes and maintain records. Coaches collaborate with team coaches to enhance performance and work with sports medicine staff to ensure a safe return for injured athletes. They also oversee performance facilities and set policies for the program’s operation.
