RAPID CITY, S.D. (Dec. 30, 2020) – Trina Allen has been promoted to Vice President of Human Resources for Monument Health, western South Dakota’s largest employer.

Allen will lead a division that meets the human resource needs of approximately 5,000 physicians and caregivers at five hospitals and more than 30 clinics and specialty centers across the region. The Human Resources team administers services such as compensation, benefits, employee health and wellbeing, recruitment, talent development, workforce diversity, spiritual care and the Children’s Center.

“A successful human resource strategy and the continuous progress that results in a positive organizational culture is critical for our success. This takes a senior leader that has the passion, energy and dedication to create progress for our organization,” said Paulette Davidson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Monument Health. “I am delighted to announce that Trina has accepted the position of Vice President of Human Resources.”

Allen has worked as a Human Resources professional in Rapid City for over 20 years. She started with the Monument Health organization in April 2015. Over the past five years she has successfully grown in her responsibilities becoming a Manager, Director and now Vice President.

“I love working with compassionate people who care about their communities and are dedicated to high-quality care,” Allen said. “My goal is to make Monument Health one of the best places to work in our region. To do that, we must employ the best and ensure we all understand and live our vision. We owe it to our communities.”

She holds a Master of Science degree in Higher Education from Iowa State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations and Communications from the University of Northern Iowa. She is certified as a Senior Certified Professional by the Society for Human Resource Management and certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources by the Human Resource Certification Institute.

She has been active locally, serving as President of the Black Hills Society for Human Resource Management and as a Junior Achievement volunteer for almost 20 years. She has been an adjunct faculty member for both graduate and undergraduate level HR courses.

Allen currently serves on the Workforce Diversity Network Board, Western Dakota Tech’s Skilled Workforce Advocacy Council and will soon join Elevate Rapid City’s Leadership Task Force.
