Electronic visitor management system to enhance safety and efficiency at Rapid City Hospital

August 20, 2024 Electronic visitor management system to enhance safety and efficiency at Rapid City Hospital

Rapid City, S.D. (Aug. 20, 2024) – Monument Health is implementing a new electronic visitor management system at Rapid City Hospital on Aug. 21 to improve visitor access, safety, and patient care.

The system will streamline the check-in process for Rapid City Hospital’s more than 800 daily visitors, enabling them to reach their loved ones’ bedside faster. It will also enhance safety and security for patients, caregivers and physicians by providing controlled access to the facility.

“Our top priority is providing safe, high-quality care for our patients,” said Judi O’Connell, Monument Health Manager of Guest Services. “The new system allows us to manage visitor flow effectively, so our dedicated nurses and physicians can focus on delivering exceptional patient care.”

Initially, the electronic check-in system will serve visitors of hospitalized patients and those being treated in the Emergency Department. Monument Health plans to expand the system to additional units.

Multilingual support ensures that a diverse range of visitors can comfortably navigate the check-in process. Monument Health Guest Services caregivers will be available to assist visitors and answer any questions.

Visitors are reminded to have the correct spelling of the patient’s name they are visiting and be prepared to provide necessary information during the check-in process. Children supervised by an adult, other than the patient, are still welcome to visit. If an adult visitor cannot care for themselves a support person for the visitor is required.

With the introduction of this new system, Monument Health continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing high-quality care and enhancing the overall experience for patients and visitors.
