The Neurology and Sleep Medicine Physician specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the nervous system and sleep disorders. Specific duties include: (1) evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients; (2) consult with patients to understand their health concerns, order and perform specialized tests to diagnose patients, and determine the proper course of treatment; (3) work with physicians, nurses, specialists, medical technologists, medical personnel, and administrative staff daily; (4) consult with other physicians concerning matters outside physician’s professional capacity; and (5) continually work to improve the quality of and maintain a reasonable cost for the medical care rendered to patients by physician. Position supervises the work of other employees in the occupations of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
This position requires a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree, or foreign equivalent from an accredited medical school and 4 years related experience in neurology or sleep medicine. Must be Board certified or Board eligible in Neurology and Sleep Medicine. Must have a current, unrestricted South Dakota physician license. Must also have 24 months of experience with each of the following: 1) Evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and providing consultation to patients with disorders of the nervous system or sleep disorders. 2) Performing specialized tests to diagnose patients and determine the proper course of treatment. 3) Interpreting diagnostic studies.
