Job Description

Essential Functions:

Engages with the ANA Nursing Process (2010) to conduct the specified functions:

  • Obtains a wide array of information relevant to the healthcare consumer's health status and context.
  • Analyzes the evaluation data to ascertain the diagnosis or areas of concern.
  • Predicts expected results for an individualized plan crafted for the healthcare consumer.
  • Crafts a detailed strategy prescribing methods and alternatives to reach expected results.
  • Puts the identified plan into practice. Ensures smooth patient progression within the plan's framework.
  • Care Collaboration integrates the coordination of care services.
  • Health teaching and health promotion involve the use of approaches to advocate for health and a secure environment.
  • Through consultation, the advanced practice registered nurse and nursing role specialist work to influence the established plan, enhance the skills of others, and drive transformation.
  • Evaluates the advancement towards the accomplishment of outcomes.

Adhering to the ANA Standards of Professional Performance (2010) is a key aspect of practice:

  • Improves nursing practice systematically to ensure high standards of care
  • Masters the information and skills relevant to current nursing standards
  • Measuring one's nursing practice against professional standards, guidelines, and statutory provisions
  • Communicates and plays a role in enhancing the professional development of peers and colleagues
  • Participates in teamwork with patients, their families, and other stakeholders in the delivery of nursing services
  • Ethical mandates are widely implemented across various practice settings
  • Fuses research findings with operational practices
  • Ensuring safety, efficacy, financial feasibility, and impact on practice are pivotal components in the design and implementation of nursing care
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities in both the professional setting and the field
  • Operating in a manner that ensures the safety of the environment while also promoting health
  • Advocates for the aims, philosophy, and standards of Monument Health.
  • The responsibilities of a Registered Professional Nurse are outlined by the state in which they are employed and require them to provide competent care that meets the standards, policies, and regulations set by accrediting organizations and regulatory bodies.
  • Observes the rules laid out in the Code of Ethics for Nurses (ANA 2010).

Successfully leverages applicable technology and software to:

  • Help in documenting nursing operations and patient support.
  • Gain access to various work-related tools necessary to be an engaged and active member of the company, such as company email, iLearn training modules, surveys on employee engagement, information on benefits and compensation, and policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates a continuous effort to improve the quality of patient care delivery through innovative and creative approaches to problem-solving.
  • Undertaking any supplementary responsibilities as needed.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Regarding BLS certification: The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

Preferred:

Experience - 5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience

Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
